Fashion Blogs, the book

Several months ago I was contacted by the lovely Kirstin Hanssen who asked if she could interview me for a book about fashion blogs. She was so enthusiastic, passionate and encouraging that refusing was out of the question. I’ve often wondered about books and publications devoting entire pages to the world of bloggers. It’s a constantly changing landscape: a combination of personalities with gigantic ambition and influence, others more solitary and individual but with the capacity to summon an intoxicating world through imagery. Journalists, fashion designers and magazine editors have poured millions of words on the subject, setting some bloggers on a course that changed their lives.
This unique book is a tribute of sorts. It is impressive and timely, given the apparent continuous rise in popularity of bloggers, and indicates that this new form of communication is today strongly incorporated in popular culture.
I happily answered all the questions I was asked and then waited for the two writers behind the concept and the publisher to work their magic.
Needless to say my expectations were vast.
I finally received a copy a few days ago and I’m happy to say that it is a hit. They skilfully compiled a list of fascinating, highly respected and engaging names and showed a remarkable ability to navigate a complicated blogosphere without being “casual tourists”. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and the choices presented in this book show that the authors were clearly devoted to the task. Among some of my favourite interviews are Style Bubble, Diane Pernet, Liebemarlene Vintage, Abdul Lagerfield, Style Savage, Kate Loves Me and Garance DorĂ©.
