THE PRINCESS OF ANTWERP

ad

I thought that I would never like Ann Demeulemeester. I never really saw the appeal of her intellectual approach to clothes and couldn't make sense of her collections. Until now ... her show was fresh, visually harmonious and beautiful. Her looks were masterpieces, simple but imaginative, with details such as draping, volumes, tapering and layering expertly displayed. No Balmain leopard prints, ripped acid wash jeans and sparkly high heels or fringes but pure rock n' roll nonetheless! There was a lot to admire in this collection, notably the fluffy mini togas. The colour palette ranged from whites, blacks and Siddharta oranges. I'm beginning to wonder whether Demeulemeester's style has developed and reached a new stage or could it be that I'm simply older and wiser? I'll have to meditate on all that after my Japanese meal this evening!

Lynn & Horst: I would wear any of these looks without a moment's hesitation and getting older is good is if it means that I can appreciate different things!

Lisa: Oh, the shoes, yes ... I should have mentioned them. They're absolutely stunning!

Material Girl: Oh la la, tu vas a Anvers? Quelle chance, je t'envie. Je reve de visiter cette ville... Super contente que tu aimes le nouveau look de mon blog!!! Merci!

Perhaps it is because you're getting older, because I feel that she's been very consistent over the years. You can look at all her collections on her website and I feel that they're all wonderful, with the exception of her foray into lollipop-land in one of her recent collections. I prefer AW08 to SS09, though.

Francis Girard, I agree, when it comes to cities, it doesn't get much better than Antwerp!
